Visionary AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li has been named as the recipient of this year’s Honorary Doctorate from Hult International Business School. Dr. Li is the inaugural Sequoia Professor in the Computer Science Department at Stanford University and a founding co-director of Stanford’s Human-Centered AI Institute. She has played a foundational role in AI image-recognition and is co-founder and CEO of spatial intelligence company World Labs. Dr. Li is widely recognized as a pioneer of modern AI.
In 2025, Dr. Li was named by Time magazine as one of the top 100 innovators and thinkers shaping our world through groundbreaking advances in AI. Her work focuses on human-centered AI and she advocates for the ethical development of artificial intelligence systems. Dr. Li also works with policymakers to ensure positive and human-centered progress in AI technologies.
“Human-centered AI is about augmenting human intelligence, not replacing it,” says Dr. Fei-Fei Li. “I believe in AI that benefits people in positive and benevolent ways, and which reflects the diversity of the human experience. Hult as an international business school is committed to this approach, as well, and to cultivating the unique human skills students will need to succeed in an AI-powered future. I am honored to accept this award from Hult.”
Dr. Li was born in China and moved to the US with her family at the age of 15. She studied physics and computer science at Princeton University before completing her PhD in computer engineering at the Caltech. She served as the Director of Stanford’s AI Lab from 2013 to 2018.
