Eden Tech, a frontier technology company focused on solving water scarcity, today announced the launch of Genesis, its patented Reverse Osmosis Centrifuge. Genesis is a first-of-its-kind desalination system, which runs reverse osmosis inside a centrifuge, doubling the clean water recovery of traditional desalination systems. Recent testing supports Genesis’ ability to recover over 80% clean water from the incoming high-salinity feedwater, compared to only 30-40% recovery in conventional reverse osmosis desalination.
Desalination has long been viewed as the primary solution to water scarcity. Reverse osmosis, which is the dominant desalination technology, accounts for roughly 70% of all current global capacity, leaves more than half the feedwater coming out as concentrated brine, which is typically discharged back into the ocean or disposed of underground.

Unlocking Higher Recovery
Genesis changes the underlying physics of desalination to unlock dramatically higher recovery from high-salinity, high-contaminant water sources that conventional systems cannot treat. By placing reverse osmosis filters inside a centrifuge, Genesis addresses the two constraints that have limited desalination for decades: efficient pressure generation and filter clogging. As Genesis spins, salt water is driven outward through the filters, efficiently generating the high pressure that desalination requires, without dedicated high-pressure pumps. The same rotation keeps the water tumbling across the filter surface, so salt cannot easily settle and clog the filter.
Genesis can further unlock inland desalination by pairing high-recovery water production with brine mining, where valuable minerals and salts (such as lithium, magnesium, potassium, bromine, iodine, calcium and sodium chloride) can be recovered from concentrated brine rather than treated as waste. By reducing residual brine and turning waste into recoverable resources, Genesis can further lower desalination costs and eliminate permitting barriers that have historically limited desalination across the United States.

Oil and gas will serve as the first sector for deployment. The oil and gas industry is facing a growing crisis related to the treatment and disposal of produced water, with approximately 1 trillion gallons of ultra-high-salinity brine generated alongside oil and gas production in the U.S. each year. Commercial opportunities for Genesis already represent more than $150 million in potential system sales.
A Decade in Development
Genesis was conceived by Eden Tech founder and CEO Hunter Manz, beginning with his pioneering work while a student at Utah Tech University and advancing through a series of prototypes developed alongside company co-founders Zack Manweiler and Reece Thompson.
