Former Missionary and Mother of Five Brings Unconventional Entrepreneurship Story to Leadership Audiences

Katie Hornor’s journey from financial crisis to international business offers a timely message about marriage, motherhood, innovation, and meaningful work

Once you know what you need to do, you just take the next right step in that direction.”

— Katie Hornor

ORLANDO, FL, UNITED STATES, September 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — International keynote speaker and award-winning author Katie Hornor is bringing a deeply personal perspective on entrepreneurship to audiences seeking honest conversations about family, innovation, and building something meaningful under pressure.

Hornor’s business journey began during 18 years of missionary service overseas. When financial support declined and providing groceries for their family became uncertain, Hornor and her husband, Tap, faced the challenge together while raising and educating five children far from extended family.

With no investors, loans, or established business network, Hornor began creating educational resources from her kitchen table. Her work led to an innovative Spanish-language homeschool curriculum and online training that helped transform how Spanish-speaking families accessed home education.

What began as a practical response to a family crisis became the foundation for a broader career in publishing, business strategy, coaching, and professional speaking. Hornor says of her journey “Who you are is more important that what you know. Once you know what you need to do, you just take the next right step in that direction, whether it is setting a boundary, reallocating resources, learning something new, hiring a coach, or hiring a team member. With clarity you can make it happen.”

Hornor’s story explores the realities behind entrepreneurship that are often missing from traditional success narratives: protecting a marriage while building a company, creating around the needs of children, recognizing overlooked markets, and allowing limitations to inspire innovation.

Now married for 23 years, Hornor and her husband are back in the USA and continue to work together while parenting their three adult children and two teens. Her presentations invite audiences to reconsider success as more than revenue or recognition, examining whether work supports their people, values, and life as intended.

Hornor coaches and speaks at The Flamingo Advantage and is also the founder of NCAPS, the National Christian Association of Professional Speakers. She has published more than 90 books and speaks on leadership, entrepreneurship, alignment in business, faith, and meaningful market differentiation.
